This collection of articles covers three areas: U.S. and Soviet space weapon programs, an evaluation of Strategic Defense Initiative technology, and arms control. There are selections by former Defense Secretary Harold Brown, various government agencies and departments, and even a token contribution from the Soviets. The result is a mixed bag of policy statements, technical analysis, and propaganda tracts. Although it does not resolve any issues, this is a useful compendium. An appendix provides the full text of the 1972 Antiballistic Missile Treaty, the 1976 Protocol, and a historical reference chart which lists treaties signed since 1963 that contain provisions covering weapons in space.
