About the Author

J. W. Vaughn was a Colorado attorney whose avocation was research on fields of battles of U.S. troops with Sioux and Cheyenne Indians, employing contemporary maps, modern aerial maps, and a metal detector. He also wrote The bottle of Platte Bridge and Indian Fight: New Facts on Seven Encounters, published by the University of Oklahoma Press.
