9780803726406: Never Eat Anything that Moves!: Good, Bad, and Very Silly Advice from Kids

Robert Bender asked thousands of schoolchildren what advice they thought other kids (and some grown-ups) ought to know. The result is an enlightening and often hilarious view into the thoughts and experiences of children as they offer their take on:

When you shouldn't give your dad a free haircut (hint: avoid naptime)

and...

The best way to know if there's a monster under the bed (answer: put your little sister under it-and listen for a crunch!)

Plus much, much more! Taken all together, this irresistible companion to Bender's Lima Beans Would Be Illegal offers the most valuable piece of advice of all: "Listen to kids-they know what they're talking about!"

From School Library Journal:

Grade 3-6-Those old enough to remember Art Linkletter's Kids Say the Darndest Things will have a sense of the charms and problems of this collection of more than 150 quotes from kids across America. Bender asked teachers to collect good, bad, and silly advice from their students, and here he has included his favorites, in no particular order. For the most part, the children's voices are authentic and funny ("Don't lick the beaters while they're on") or poignant ("When your parents fight, don't blame it on yourself"). Sometimes overly precocious quotes of the type seen on T-shirts slip in ("Life's too short, eat dessert first"). Although the package may be more interesting to adults than the intended young audience, browsers will enjoy the comical, full-color illustrations on every page, as well as many quotes to make them laugh or stop to ponder. And everyone will have a favorite.

From Publishers Weekly:

Compilation touts such advice as "Never eat a magnet when you have braces," "Tell people that you love them" and "Get Messy." With the participation of schools and students across the country, Robert Bender (Lima Beans Would Be Illegal) collected more than 1000 kid tips for Never Eat Anything That Moves: Good, Bad, and Very Silly Advice from Kids. Humorous pictures in an unusual media (cell-vinyl paint on acetate) illustrate the scenarios.
