This clearly written volume offers comprehensive guidance to new and student teachers on how to become more effective in classroom management and instruction.

From his extensive experience as a teacher, principal and teacher trainer, Robert DiGiulio proposes a positive, constructive approach to instruction as opposed to the use of blame, threats, rules, rewards or punishments. Topics discussed include: how positive classroom management promotes prosocial behaviour; strategies which foster respect and cooperation; instructional methods which promote student success; and what to do (and not do) when faced with student misconduct. The book also features useful checklists and exercises to improve teaching skills.
