Book by Eason, Cassandra
"synopsis" may belong to another edition of this title.
Eason, author of a number of books dealing with supernatural and psychic powers, including Discover Your Past Lives (Trans-Atlantic Pubns., 1996), here describes popular magic systems and various forms of divination. Each chapter?focused either on the magic of cultures, such as the Maya and the Egyptians, or on objects such as dice, flowers, or crystals?opens with a brief description of the subject in terms of its magical or spiritual significance throughout history. Eason then gives instructions on using the object or performing the ritual, as in "How To Read a Crystal Ball" or how to guide a lost pet home. In some chapters, Eason provides an anecdote about how a person used a particular ritual to learn something personal. Though this work provides some useful information, the extensive encyclopedia Man, Myth, and Magic (LJ 6/15/95) remains a better choice. Considering the author's lack of credentials and the lack of any documentation?Eason offers no description of her training and provides no bibliographies or citations?this title is inappropriate for use in reference or academic collections.?Debra Moore, Loyola Marymount Univ. Lib., Los Angeles
