Reviews

Women, Collins suggests, have always encountered suspicion when trying to share prayer experiences with men. This explores insights of three modern women marginally or centrally identified with Catholicism: the painter Meinrad Craighead, a former Benedictine contemplative; poet Anne Sexton; and writer Annie Dillard. Discussing also a group of Jewish feminists who gather monthly for a liturgy around "Miriam's well," this is most provocative. EC
