Focusing on the period from the years just prior to World War I to the onset of World War II, contributors to this volume investigate the nexus of art, avant-garde thought, and politics as it appears in (explicitly or implicitly) partisan journals. The period just before World War I through the beginnings of World War II was one of the most explosive in history--and art was at war as well.
