About the Author
Timothy J. Runyan teaches in the Department of History at Cleveland State University. A member of the editorial board of The American Neptune, he is co-author with A.R. Lewis of European Naval and Maritime History, 300-1500 (1985) and has published extensively on the medieval maritime history.
