Book by Paiewonsky, Ralph M., Dookhan, Isaac

Paiewonsky became governor of the Virgin Islands in 1961; he was the first native-born Virgin Islander to hold that office. This is Paiewonsky's account of his eight years as governor, along with the story of the rest of his life in business and politics. Of particular note is Paiewonsky's commentary on the nexus between politics and education, with politics being viewed in somewhat of an Aristotelian sense as a form of education. An interesting and appealing discussion of civic duty, this is recommended reading for the historian, the political scientist, the policy analyst, the policy maker, and perhaps most of all, for anyone interested in a career in politics.
