About the Author:

Milton C. Sernett is professor of African American studies and history and adjunct professor of religion at Syracuse University. He is the author of Black Religion and American Evangelicalism and Bound for the Promised Land: African American Religion and the Great Migration.

Review:

"Milton Sernett captures the forceful image of Green and paints a very strong revealing portrait of a man of great 'moral intensity, ' a minister who had little inclination to pastor but a great burning need to instruct and reform those about him."
