Big, bright paintings featuring simplified shapes heavily outlined in black bring to life market day in Hong Kong, India, Italy, Senegal, Egypt, and Mexico. The text is zippy and engaging, and the discussions of what is offered, especially the unusual food items, are sure to trigger comments from young listeners. Jaffrey includes one recipe from each country, though without mention of the need for adult help, which is certainly necessary.
