The foregoing Genealogical Table has been compiled and condensed by Lucy Harvie Baldwin for the purpose of showing only such ancestry of Sarah Hillhouse Gilbert as were of special note. It is believed to be correct. The various genealogies, histories and records referred to in the following Supplementary Details should be consulted by those wishing fuller information concerning all other ancestry. (i) HENRY WOLCOTT. (of Galdon Manor, Tolland, Somersetshire, Eng.). Born 1578. Married January 10th, 1606. Elizabeth Saunders. Died May 30, 1655. Was County Squire and Justice in England. Came to New England with Rev. John Warham, 1630. Became a Founder and Original Proprietor of Windsor, Conn., 1635. Was Magistrate, and in 1837 Member of the First General Assembly of Connecticut. Was "Assistant," or Member of the Governor's Council, or Member of "Upper House" (Senate), for twentyfour years. See Wolcott Memorial; Hist. of Dorchester; Hist. of Windsor (Styles); Porter Gen.; and all Colonial Histories of Connecticut. (3) JOHN MASON. Born in England, 1600. Married Ann Peck, 1637. Died January 30th, 1671-2. Served in English Army in Netherlands with rank of Lieutenant. Came to New England with John Winthrop in 1630. Settled in Dorchester, Mass. Planned fortifications in Boston Harbor. Removed to Windsor, 1637. Commander-in-Chief of American Forces during Pequot War, 1637. On his return was made Major General of Connecticut Forces, which position he held thirty years. Removed to Saybrook at the request of the inhabitants, and was invested with command of the fort. Was Commissioner for the United Colonies, i647-'54-'55-'56-'57*6l. Removed to Norwich, 1660, and was, by election and appointment, Deputy Governor from 1660 until his resignation in 1670....
