About the Author:

Harvey H. Jackson is an Eminent Scholar in History at Jacksonville State University. He is the author, coauthor, or coeditor of many books, including Inside "Alabama: A Personal History of My State," and "Lachlan McIntosh and the Politics of Revolutionary Georgia" (Georgia).
Phinizy Spalding (1930-1994) was a professor of history at the University of Georgia and a leading scholar on James Oglethorpe. He was the author of numerous books including "Oglethorpe in America" and a coauthor of "A History of Georgia "(both Georgia).
