The photographer who gave us One Hundred Flowers, Foliage, and The Infinite Rose here celebrates the almost otherworldly beauty of the orchid in a series of 100 sensuous and vivid color portraits. Shot against a velvety black background and reproduced in enlarged closeup views, these pictures of Paphiopedilum, Dendrobium, and Cymbidium varieties and hybrids reveal their delicacy, their lush beauty, and their often startlingly suggestive physiognomy. As American Orchid Society Judge Robert Hesse notes in his introduction, "For all my study and passionate involvement, I have never really experienced the magic of the orchid as captured in these pages."
