From Booklist:
Gr. 5-8. Guernsey first wrote about Clinton in a biography subtitled A New Kind of First Lady, published by Lerner in 1993. Clearly a lot has happened since then. The book starts off traditionally with Clinton's birth and childhood. Familiar anecdotes seed the pages, but Guernsey does not shy away from the tumult that marked Bill Clinton's second term. Clinton, clearly the heroine of her story, comes across as a bright, strong-willed woman, a fast learner who has deeply held beliefs and acts on them. Her many detractors will probably grumble that this book is too laudatory; although failures such as Clinton's health care proposition are covered, Guernsey focuses on his subject's successes. Lerner has teamed up with A&E's Biography television show (the exact link isn't clear) to produce this series, and perhaps that connection accounts for more varied and interesting photographs (including those of Gennifer Flowers, Paula Jones, and Monica Lewinsky) than are often seen in series biographies. Selected source notes, a bibliography, and a combined further reading and Web site list are appended. Ilene Cooper

From School Library Journal:
Grade 6-9 -A fine portrait of the former First Lady and current senator from New York. The text covers Clinton's many achievements, from her efforts to reform health care to writing books to working as a successful lawyer. Guernsey does not shy away from the controversial aspects of her subject's story, from her husband's impeachment trial to Clinton's "imaginary conversations" with Eleanor Roosevelt. The text also enumerates the criticism she has received, but balances it with plenty of positive comments. Average-quality, black-and-white and full-color photographs and a clean design round out this solid biography.-Kristen Oravec, Cuyahoga County Public Library, Strongsville, OH
