Describes the history behind Hanukkah and the ways it is celebrated.

The first three-quarters of this informational book is a synopsis in simple prose of the wicked acts of King Antiochus, the uprising of the Jews under Mattathias, and the miracle of the holy oil. The last quarter shows families celebrating Hanukkah today. Pleasant illustrations with uniformly decorated borders use black line and flat pastel colors to involve readers; they can be seen well from a distance. Koralek's Hanukkah is more compelling, but is for an older audience.
