Reviews

PreS-Gr 1—Told in a series of short sentences and photographs, this book covers different animals (among them rabbits, horses, dogs, cats, and humans) and the stories of their maturation: "egg to caterpillar to chrysalis to butterfly. Egg to tadpole to frog." There are three to five photographs for each animal, which take up the majority of the page. Only a small portion at the bottom remains white, where the words are written in various colors. Toward the end of the book, there is an explanation of what a life cycle is. A glossary and details about each creature appear in the back matter. VERDICT An additional purchase for libraries where young readers need simple books on the growth of animals.—Tracy Cronce
