It updates the 1966 Handbook of Hawaiian Weeds by changing plant names, where necessary, to conform with Harold St. John's authoritative List of Flowering Plants in Hawaii, published in 1973. Some 226 weeds are illustrated and described. This new handbook also expands on the earlier edition with a list of seventy-nine plant species that have recently become pests in Hawaii. Like the rest of the book, this section includes common names when available, reference sources, and the area of the world where each plant originated.
