Carl Fischer Music presents this exciting series of performance pieces designed to help all levels of instrumentalists by making their practice time more productive. This innovative series offers the soloist stunningly clear engravings written for the particular instrument and piano. In addition, a musically accurate and expressive piano accompaniment CD, in a performance tempo (many early pieces also include a version in a slower practice tempo), is included for those times when an accompanist is not available. This is a must have product for the developing soloist.

Sonata in F Major by Benedetto Marcello is a Baroque work in four contrasting movements. The slow, legato first movement has dotted rhythms throughout in step-wise patterns. The second movement is a fast dance in binary form with 16th-note motices in a variety of articulations. The short, third movement is in D and G minor, is slow and lyrical, and includes several trills. The movement leads attacca into the fourth movement, a lively gigue in 12/8. This sonata is an excellent introduction to the standard Baroque repertoire for advanced intermediate flutists. --Flute Talk, March 2005
