About the Author

Lecturer, Henry P. Becton School of Nursing and Allied Health, Fairleigh Dickinson University, 1000 River Road, Teaneck, New Jersey 07666, has over 30 years of experience in nursing and currently teaches a variety of didactic and clinical courses at the baccalaureate level for students at the one-year accelerated, two-year accelerated, four year traditional and RN to BSN levels. She is also a referral liaison at Children's Specialized Hospital, New Brunswick, New Jersey. She holds board certification in Pediatric Nursing from the American Nurses Credentialing Center, (ANCC). She was on the ANCC examination standard setting committee for the new Pediatric Credentialing examination. She is President of the Epsilon Rho Chapter, Fairleigh Dickinson University of the Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society with dual membership with Lambda Iota Chapter, Kean University, Union, New Jersey. She obtained her BSN and MSN in Transcultural Nursing Administration from Kean University, Union, New Jersey. She has published several articles in nursing journals. Ms. Motacki participated in ANAs curriculum research pilot project "Effectiveness of an Evidence-Based Curriculum Module in Nursing Schools Targeting Safe Patient Handling and Movement" implemented in U.S. nursing schools. She is a Certified Back Injury Resource Nurse. is an associate professor of community health nursing at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas School of Nursing in the United States (US). Her doctorate is in occupational and environmental health with a research focus on prevention of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) in caregivers. She holds three master's degrees in nursing education, community health, and physiology (occupational health). Dr. Menzel is a Certified Occupational Health Nurse-Specialist and a Certified Nurse Educator. She helped to develop the safe patient handling module for a successful pilot study on changing nursing school curricula, funded by the US National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and carried out by the American Nurses Association and the US Veterans Administration's VISN8 Patient Safety Center. Dr. Menzel is the author of l10 peer-reviewed articles on MSDs in caregivers, has completed several funded research studies on MSD prevention, and is a national speaker on this subject. She is the former Deputy Director of the Occupational Health Nursing program at the NIOSH Education and Research Center at the University of South Florida.She has written three editions of Workers' Comp from A to Z: A "How-to" Guide with Forms. She is a Fellow of the American Association of Occupational Health Nurses (FAAOHN).
