Jo Milgrom’s milestone work which introduces "visual theology," an original, interdisciplinary approach which relates biblical knowledge to personal development. This guide includes innovative workshop exercises which assume no skill or training in art on the part of the participants. Indeed, it is because of their inexperience that they move slowly enough to allow a reconsideration of the obvious, thereby releasing self-knowledge and exploring the symbolic meanings of the biblical text.

Text: English, HebrewFrom Library Journal:
This book presents Milgrom's visual theology workshop technique for encountering biblical stories. Using the stories of creation and Isaac, midrashic commentary, and visual and literary art, Milgrom encourages participants to express their own emotions, experiences, and thought through art. Influenced by Carl Jung's belief that individuals produce religious images naturally in their psyches and that psychological problems are often caused by ignoring the religious nature of the psyche, Milgrom leads her participants into producing their own artistic commentary on biblical story. This intimate involvement with biblical story heightens symbolic awareness and promotes psychological wholeness. Recommended for public libraries.
