Synopsis

Here's lots of fun-and useful programming practice-for anyone who has access to a computer. It's filled with 26 colorful game programs ready to be run on any machine that uses BASIC. The programs can be copied exactly as they appear in the book and used on your computer. They're fun and challenging ... and as entertaining to kids as they are to adults!
For the aspiring practitioner of micro-computing, these programs are also a gold mine of techniques, teaching such sophisticated programming and computer science skills as reducing the number of lines of code (thus preserving capacity memory), generating a fresh deck of cards and maintaining a "true" deck during computer playing of card games, applying the principles of parsing, generating pseudo. random numbers, and plenty more. Of course, you don't have to be an advanced computer wizard, or even a serious student or hobbyist, to enjoy this book. Simply copy the games, use them as software, and start playing! The fun includes poker, blackjack, roulette, hotshot, cokes, abstract, dice, gunners, knights, and much more. You can choose your opponent, too-human or computer! When playing against a person, the computer serves as referee and/or scorekeeper. And to make playing the games-and experimenting with them easy, you get plenty of proqrarn templates, detailed discussions of game dynamics, and appendices loaded with helpful supplemental information.
