About the Author:

Dr. Henrietta Mears was one of the great Bible teachers of the twentieth century. While serving as Christian Education Director at First Presbyterian Church of Hollywood, she built one of the largest Sunday Schools in the world. She personally taught some of the most influential Christian leaders of our time, including Billy Graham and Bill Bright, and was the founder of Gospel Light and Forest Home Christian Conference Center. Miss Mears passed away on March 20, 1963, leaving behind a ministry that continues to thrive to this day.

Review:

The world we are living in has changed so much in the past sixty years since Henrietta Mears first wrote What the Bible Is All About. She had a deep desire to help those who longed to understand the Bible better. My father has written that, in the early years of his preaching ministry, Dr. Mears was instrumental in his spiritual growth.

The majority of young people today know little or nothing about God and His Word and rarely, if ever, attend church. They don’t know that God created them, loves them and sent His Son to die for their sins.

But the Word of God is always living and active, sharp and powerful, cutting through to the very soul of man (see Hebrews 4:12). I believe with all my heart that the gospel . . . is the power of God that brings salvation” (Romans 1:16). I believe in the transforming power of that gospel that turns us from our wicked ways and makes us new creatures in Christ.

A book like this one, taken from Dr. Mears’s classic, can help to open the Scriptures to those who sincerely seek truth. When we discover Jesus in the pages of the Bible, we see the reality of God’s love. He sent His Son into this world to replace doubt, darkness and despair with the assurance of His love to all who will receive Him, with the promise of forgiveness of sin to repentant hearts through His shed blood on the cross, and with hope of eternal joy in His presence.
