I received my copy of this book several years ago from a friend who was traveling in China. (I was surprised to find it in the West - but Amazon has everything!) I have read it again and again. The tales are, unmistakably, folk wit from centuries past, and yet amusing for today as well. You'll find several that apply to people and situations you run into daily. (Some Uygur independence groups have recently been officially recognized as terrorists by the US, in an effort to get more anti-terrorist cooperation from China - to add a certain poignancy to this review. Uygur (pronounced Wee-gur) people are Islamic.) (Amazon customer)
