Good-natured Arthur is happy when another dog comes to live in his household but he soon begins to feel ignored and left out as the new dog seems to claim all the family's attention
"synopsis" may belong to another edition of this title.
Always Arthur is perfectly dreadful. A stray dog comes to the door, is given a home by the family and is accepted by Arthur, the family dog--until young Melanie shows a preference for the newcomer. Arthur runs away, and the family finds him and assures him that they will always love him. Thus ends this hackneyed, predictable story. The characters all have distorted expressions and features, jutting chins and noses, and bulbous eyes, making them unappealing and unattractive. Shades of pink predominate, giving the overall impression of a swarm of jellyfish. Forget Arthur. --Trev Jones, School Library Journal
