Book Description Fairleigh Dickinson University Press (Associated University Presses), East Brunswick, New Jersey, 1981. Hardcover. Condition: Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. Illustrated with maps, drawings and photos (illustrator). 1st Edition. Gray cloth covers- the top two inches or sp are a bit discolored, probably sunned. The end pages are slightly soiled and spine very slightly cocked. The contents are tight and clean. Cream-colored dust jacket with illustration on front and photos and short bio of authors on rear. The dust jacket is a bit soiled and smudged. All-in-all, though a nice copy of a hard to find regimental history. The New York 154th Regiment was mustered into service in 1862, comprising of men mostly from Cattarugus and Chautaugua Counties in Western New York. Part of the 11th Corps, their first battle was Chancellorsville at which the regiment was crushed by Stonewall Jackson's attack. Their next battle was Gettysburg where on the first day, the 154th along with NY 134th and PA 27th attempted to halt the Confederate attack through the town on day 1 at the Brickyard on Stephens Run. Once again they were overrun and forced to retreat back to Cemetery Hill. Through the rest of the war, the 154th participated in Sherman's March through Georgia and the Carolinas. Nicely illustrated with maps, period drawing and photographs. A hard to find regimental history. Seller Inventory # 021114
