Synopsis

I want to lose weight, but dieting just doesn't seem to work.

I've tried everything, and I'm still three sizes too big.

Help! I hate the way my body looks.

Sound familiar? Like many women and men, perhaps you have tried virtually every wtight-loss plan that exists only to give up in disappointment and despair. Have you faithfully counted fat grams and calories? Have you subjected yourself, week after week, to the humiliation of hearing what your current weight should be compared to what it is? Have you exercised excessively, given up your favorite foods, and felt guilty when you've failed to meet your weight goals?

Time tested for more than 30 years, Thin Within is the original hunger-fullness plan. Tens of thousands of participants in the program have joyfully reported the release of unwanted weight. More importantly, they have maintained that weight with a new and incomparable peace with themselves and with the One who designed them. Thin Within makes it possible to:

  • Identify and resolve issues that cause you to eat more than your body needs
  • Leave diets behind forever
  • Discover and enjoy those foods that promote health and vitality
  • Experience the abundant life as you reach and maintain your natural God-given size

About the Author

JUDY HALLIDAY is a registered nurse who has practiced for more than 25 years in the Intensive Care Unit, Emergency Services, and Medical-Surgical, where she specialized in PSYCHIATRY. Halliday is the co-founder of Thin Within, an educational corporation designed to teach people to eat, think, and live the life of a thin person. She is the author of the best-seller Thin Within, and co-author of Thin Again, a biblical approach to dealing with the problem of overeating.

For 30 years DR. ARTHUR HALLIDAY worked in private practice in the area of Internal Medicine. Currently he serves as staff physician for addiction treatment at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Menlo Park, CA. Since 1984 he has lectured nationally from a Christian perspective about the epidemic of AIDS. From Publishers Weekly

This husband and wife team (Judy's a registered nurse and Arthur practices internal medicine) joins the ranks of Christian authors and publishers who combine religion and weight loss. Proclaiming that the road to weight loss is a spiritual one, and that counting calories and abstaining from sweets ultimately doesn't work, they offer a 30-day guide to "freedom from concerns about food, eating, and your body." More than a weight-loss regimen, this spiritual self-improvement program combines practical "Keys to Conscious Living" (including tips such as eat only when the body is hungry and eat when sitting down) with a spiritual message about God's love. The book is sometimes repetitive, driving home the message of God's grace on nearly every page, but the charts and probing questions will help readers track eating patterns to gain a deeper understanding of what emotional need food is trying to replace. As much a self-help volume as a weight-loss one, the book's constant accentuation on learning new habits-both spiritual and physical-will help readers seeking to find a balance in their bodies and their lives.
