About the Author:

Julian Andrews is a freelance writer and lecturer. Among his books are Sutherland: The Wartime Drawings (1980, with Robert Tassi) and Graham Sutherland—Correspondences: Selected Writings on Art (1982).

This handsome, well-illustrated book is the first to review the entire range of [Nash's] work, from early--and surprisingly fussy--concoctions of brightly painted wood, "shades of the swinging sixties," to his current monochromatic, elegant, almost Zen-like creations which use the natural twists and contortions of a whole tree trunk or limb. -- Clare Henry, The Herald, Glasgow

[Andrews] wants to tell and show us as much as possible. . . . What [he] gives us is a wide-ranging but selective survey in words and photographs, partly chronological and biographical but going also by sculpture types. -- Norbert Lynton, Modern Painters
