The stories of parents who have unselfishly shared them so that others may benefit. Parents wish to listen to the experiences of others and find that what they endure after the death of their child are common amongst other bereaved parents. These stories are at times heartbreaking, brave and sensitive while showing an insight into the human condition. This is a book which brings a profound acknowledgment of these personal tragedies and provides support and hope for the future.

The stories have been collected by the organisation SANDS (Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Support Inc which since the early 1980s has been providing 24-hour availability to individual telephone support and monthly group support meetings through a network of local groups. Direct support and resources are offered and also advocacy for the better care of parents, including community and professional education and hospital and legislative change which could greatly benefit parents after the death of a baby.Review:
The stories contained within this book demonstates the depth of emotion but perhaps more importantly they demonstrate that there is no typecast for how one should feel after the death of a baby...I hope that in reading this book people will realize they they are not alone in their journey, however long the journey takes and wherever it may take them. I congratulate the many people who have contributed their stories in this book and thank them for their honesty and ability to share their private thoughts around their experiences after the death of their baby. --Professor Paul Monagle, Department of Paediatrics, The Royal Children's Hospital, Parkville, Victoria
