Synopsis

Each book in this series describes the life of an animal during a specific season of the year. Written in a quasi-fictional style, but based on actual animal behavior, these stories are richly illustrated with wildlife details from the four seasons of the year. Each story has an element of suspense by depicting an adventure or crisis in the animal's life. The books include a series of animals for the young reader to search for, thereby enhancing retention of information. A simple suggested project ends each volume. An otter lies sleeping with her two cubs. One of these, not yet able to swim, is the focus of this tale. Young Sarn is bold and impulsive, like most cubs, and driven by need, yet playful, too. In this realistic work of fiction, we learn how Sarn is saved from the owl by this mother. Though right now he cannot swim, later he will be able to swim with the others. It is all part of Sarn's adventure.
