Gene travels the world with his grandfather, legendary jazz musician, 'Cherokee' Crawford. Adventure, excitement, and music--what more could he need? The answer, says his Aunt Joan, is a sensible routine, a proper education and discipline. She will do anything to get him away from Cherokee, and finally succeeds.Living with Joan and wimpy cousin Wesley is torture for Gene. The only music allowed in the house is the hum of vacuum cleaner! He can't even practice his beloved clarinet. Is this the end of his dream of following in Cherokee's footsteps?Escape seems the only solution--but life has a lot more surprises in store for Gene.
