From School Library Journal:

Grade 7-12 This English-produced volume sums up the facts behind the rise of India, Pakistan, China, Japan, and North and South Korea to world importance. The in formation is presented briefly, clearly, and without bias, making the book ideal for school use. The format is similar to others in the series: a few chapters de scribing events in each country since 1945, followed by appendixes with bio graphical sketches, some notes on mili tary tactics in the region, a chronological listing of high points in the area's recent history, and an index. Major importance is given to the growth of Communist China (and the importance of its army), the re building of Japan, and the bloody partition of Pakistan and India. There is even a bit on the delicate relations among India, Chi na, and the Soviet Union, information that might be difficult to find in capsule form elsewhere. The charts are splendid, and the pictures, mostly in color, are well-cho sen and reproduced. Each chapter has a lead paragraph describing its contents, a technique that should make research easi er.
