About the Author:

Ann Filemyr, PhD, is the Academic Dean at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico. In addition to academic and administrative leadership, she pursues creative practice in the literary, visual and performing arts. She is the author of several other books of poetry.

Review:

''These poems are alive with insight and sensitivity. Ann Filemyr has given us a collection of riches to be savored and kept at hand.'' --N. Scott Momaday, Kiowa poet and winner of the Pulitzer Prize in Literature

''Filemyr's The Healer's Diary winds through time and place, from childhood to 'orchid dusk' from Afghanistan to Jemez Pueblo, marking 'the days between blood and heat.' These beautiful, wide-ranging poems remind us that in the 'made world' of grief and wounds there is the 'medicine of sacred places' constantly urging us on.'' --Valerie Martinez, author of Each and Her, And They Called It Horizon, and two other books of poetry.

'''Your task is to flourish,''' writes Ann Filemyr, and the poems in this collection form a healing way.'' --Arthur Sze, poet, author of The Gingko Light, Quipu, The Red Shifting Web and other books of poetry.
