About the Author:

Timothy J. Reiss, Professor of Comparative Literature at New York University, has most recently published Knowledge, Discovery and Imagination in Early Modern Europe: The Rise of Aesthetic Rationalism (1997). He is editor or co-editor of several collections, among them Sisyphus and Eldorado: Magical and Other Realisms in Caribbean Literature with Kamau Brathwaite, whose revised second edition, edited by Reiss, will be published by Africa World Press in 2002.
