Itamar Moses has been hailed as one of America's most talented young playwrights since his critically acclaimed Bach at Leipzig debuted in 2005. In this anthology of three new plays, Moses blurs the line between fact and fiction, dramatizing today's most infamous news stories. In Back Back Back, the pressures of performance and reputation get the best of three professional baseball players when they are forced to reveal their not-so-natural secrets to winning the game. In Celebrity Row, Moses imagines what Timothy McVeigh, Ted Kaczynski, the 1993 World Trade Center bomber Ramzi Yousef, and the Latin Kings leader Luis Felipe would have philosophized about when they were inhabitants of the same maximum security prison in Colorado. Finally, in Outrage, the dangerous teacher-disciple relationship calls all of academia into question with the help of none other than Socrates and Bertolt Brecht.

About the Author:

Itamar Moses' previous works include Bach at Leipzig (Faber, 2005) and The Four of Us (Faber, 2008). He lives in Brooklyn.

Review:

“To call Itamar Moses ‘promising' no longer makes sense. He is already one of America's most accomplished playwrights.” ―Terry Teachout, The Wall Street Journal

“No one plays king of the hill more craftily than Itamar Moses . . . Back Back Back, Moses's taut, beautifully modulated three-hander about steroid use among pro baseballers, feels like a homecoming.” ―Rob Weinert-Kendt, Time Out New York

Celebrity Row delivers a dramatically powerful discourse on the nature of crime and punishment in the turbulent twenty-first century. This show will spark debates.” ―Tom Williams, ChicagoCritic.com

“[Outrage] burns with manic energy and crackles with sparkling wit.” ―Justin Sanders, The Portland Mercury

Book Description North Point Press, United States, 2009. Paperback. Condition: New. Language: English. Brand new Book. Since the critically acclaimed Off-Broadway premiere of "Bach at Leipzig" in 2005, Itamar Moses has been hailed as one of the most promising playwrights at work today. Collected in this volume are three plays that span his career to date. As with "Bach at Leipzig", Moses here blurs the line between fact and fiction, using today's most compelling issues along with public figures past and present to explore ideas of freedom, morality, and truth. In his most recent work, "Back Back Back", the pressures of performance and reputation get the best of three professional baseball players when they are forced to confront the not-so-natural secrets some use to win the game. With "Celebrity Row', Moses imagines what Timothy McVeigh, Ted Kaczynski, 1993 World Trade Centre bomber Ramzi Yousef, and Latin Kings leader Luis Felipe would have philosophized about while they were inhabitants of Colorado Supermax, the most secure prison in America. And finally, in "Outrage", one of Moses' earliest plays, the dangerous teacher/disciple relationship calls all of academia into question with the help of none other than Socrates and Bertolt Brecht.
