Mauro's ability to blend photo-realism with fantasy gives his paintings an eerie sense of reality, but it's his fascination with the night-dwelling blood suckers that he has the most affinity for. About the Author
A graduate of the Art Institute of Pittsburgh with a degree in visual communications and a major in airbrush, Tony made great headway in his career once he established himself in Los Angeles. Picking up work in the entertainment field, he landed a sweet assignment working on illustrations for X-Files related merchandise. Then came Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which introduced him to the dark world of the bloodsucker. Throughout this time, Mauro wanted to branch into more fantasy work, and developed a unique blending of photography and illustration, which led him to the creation of his vampire series. Shockingly realistic portraits of female vamps, and the reaction has Tony working more than ever. This is his first showcase of full color work to be published. He also has a created his own illustrated calendar.
