Betsy Cowles Partridge (1902-1974) was one of the first women and first Americans to mountaineer throughout the world, climbing extensively during the 1930s and 1940s in the US and Canada, the Swiss Alps, and ultimately, the Khumbu region of Nepal. This biography incorporates her journal entries and letters, as well as her fine photographic work, providing a picture of a lively, thoughtful, and rather remarkable woman.
