Peter Kastor is an Associate Professor of History at Washington University in St. Louis. He is an expert on the American frontier and early Republic, cultural history, North American borderlands, the Louisiana Purchase, expansion along the Lewis and Clark Trail, American foreign policy in 19th century, nationalism, political culture, frontier life, and territorial expansion.
