Peter G. Renstrom is professor of political science at Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, MI.From Booklist:
Gr. 11^-12. A revision of a 1992 publication, this update cites 110 new cases, including a number of Supreme Court decisions made since 1990. As before, the text is very accurate and precisely detailed. Assuming the reader is not familiar with federal law, Renstrom painstakingly dissects each legal concept to provide an idea of the evolving status of civil rights and demonstrate the importance of the Constitution and the uniqueness of the U.S. judicial system. Given the detail in the book, the index is anemic, and because of the vocabulary, complex sentence structure, and dry style, the book will be too difficult for most students. Larger YA collections, however, may find it a useful extra purchase for reference. Karen Simonetti
