The Aqquyunlu was one of three waves of tribal domination over the Anatolia-Iran area in the 15th-16th centuries, a transitional time in Islamic history from the Later Middle to the Early Modern period. Drawing upon published and unpublished archival and documentary sources, Woods updates the bibliography and refines his analysis of some points in the 1976 edition (based on his 1974 doctoral dissertation, Princeton U.). Includes period maps, illustrations, and appended material on Aqquyunlu genealogy, confederates, and history. Annotation c. Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
