When Webster Rhoads Jr. said the Miller & Rhoads Santa Claus was "the strangest institutional program we ever undertook," he had no idea how central that institution would become to celebrating Christmas in Richmond. He also did not know that this "strange institutional program," would evolve into a tradition that outlived the store and continues to influence future generations into the twenty-first century. The Miller & Rhoads Santa is an instrumental part of Christmas for many generations of people, and not only to those that live in Richmond. People travel long distances to sit upon the "Real" Santa's knee. Rhoads Jr. and Miller & Rhoads created a tradition that is passed on from generation to generation. This book is about that legendary Santa Claus and his importance to Richmond and Richmonders.About the Author:
