9780875275413: Lawyers, Litigants & Whores: How Much Are You Paying Them?

Lawyers, Litigants and Whores is a must-read for anyone who is - or fears they may be - a defendant in a personal injury or medical malpractice lawsuit.

This book describes in detail Plaintiffs who exaggerate - or unashamedly face -- their injuries.

Unscrupulous attorneys who appear to encourage their clients' dishonesty.

Medical experts - the "whores" of the title - who slant their testimony to accommodate whoever is paying for their services.

Lawyers, Litigants and Whores should be required reading for people who shrug off enormous settlements in frivolous lawsuits because "Doctors have lots of money" or "The insurance companies pay for it."

From the Publisher:

Dr. Donald peterson demonstrates how this dishonesty on a grand scale victimizes everyone in our society. Some of the effects are obvious and ordinary, like higher insurance premiums. Some of the effects are subtler and more insidious, such as the pervasive cynicism about the legal system and the erosion of ethical and moral values. Reform of our legal system is long overdue.

From the Author:

This book is about my experience as an expert witness for our legal system. In my work as a neurologist I have examined over 1500 persons who were requesting financial remedies through our court system for various innuries. These injuries occurred in many ways but most of them were caused by motor vehicle accidents. When I examined these persons I found that nearly ninety percent of them were manifesting false abnormalities and they were greatly exaggerating the harmful effects of their injury in an effort to increase their compensation award. But it would be unfair to say that nearly ninety percent of persons who have been injured file false and exaggerated claims of personal injury. It is likely that during the time when I examined these persons with litigation hundreds or even thousands of others who were injured during the same period and in the same geographical area were not exaggerating their symptoms and the effects of their injuries for financial gain.
