About the Author:

X. L. Woo was a university professor in China and published several educational books and poetry there. He came to the U.S. as a visiting professor at Rutgers University, and he is now an American citizen. He writes a column for a Chinese newspaper, and is the editor of an English-language newspaper published by Chinese-Americans. Prof. Woo has published three previous books in English including Empress Dowager Cixi (Algora 2002).
