Collecting Madame Alexander Dolls is just like the company motto says... "A Thing of Beauty is a Joy Forever!"About the Author:
Bordentown, New Jersey based collector-dealer-author A. Glenn Mandeville is no stranger to the doll world. "I have always been attracted to perfect miniature things," says Glenn.
As a teenager, this love translated into model trains and later to dolls.
"The same elements exist in dolls and trains...The flawless miniaturization of life," is often quoted by the author.
In the mid-1980s Glenn began writing doll articles and books for Hobby House Press, Inc. At the time, he was the head of the foreign language department for a local school system. During the summer, he would prowl the flea markets for rare doll finds. This hobby soon became a full-time business. serving as Regional Director for United Federation of Doll Clubs, Inc. and as the first Chairman of Judges, Modern Division, Glenn has left an indelible mark on the collector's world.
More books followed on collectible dolls and Glenn became a frequent guest on the talk show circuit including CBS's "Regis & Kathie Lee," CNBC's "Smart Money," NBC's "Eddie Huggins," and the RKO Radio network.
Glenn's personal appearances at leading doll shops and collector's gatherings led him to the Presidency of the Madame Alexander Doll Club for 1992.
"I can honestly say I was overwhelmed," says Glenn, when referring to the Madame Alexander Doll Club. "Collectors are really eager to learn the most that they can about their hobby."
It was the collector outreach that led Glenn to compile the first Madame Alexander Dolls Value Guide and to continue with a second and third edition.
"Shared knowledge is my goal," quotes Glenn, and as collector's agree, this book has it all!
