Illustrated with more than 200 reproductions of contemporary nineteenth-century advertisements and magnified photographic silversmiths' marks, the book includes detailed biographies of the 983 craftsmen who immigrated to Vermont or who were born in that state in its first century of settlement. An added feature is the index by towns in which craftsmen carried on their business and a record of their first working date in that location.
