WYXIE Wonderland is a good time and more than that. Here is possibly the first comprehensive exploration into the inner workings of a broadcast enterprise. It is as broad as it is deep, revealing the secrets of top management as completely as - perhaps even more fully than - it does the vagaries of performing talent. This is the diary of that station, unauthorized and independently written. Here are the hilarious fluffs, minor on-the-air disasters and a phantom broadcast.

Dick Osgood (1901-2000) worked at station WXYZ Detroit for thirty-six years — on AM, FM and TV — as writer, actor, newscaster, master of ceremonies, “special announcer” and, briefly, as studio manager. Among the many programs he developed, he was the host and writer of programs such as "Radio Schoolhouse", "Show World", and "Hollywood Highlights".
