About the Author

Born in Manchuria, China in 1918, the late Tripitaka Master Hsuan Hua became a monk at age 19. He taught at the Nan Hua Vinya Academy in Canton where the Sixth Patriarch Hui Neng taught in the 7th century. In 1962, he came to America with the vow to establish orthodox Buddhism in the west. Before his passing, he had established 28 monasteries in North America and Asia and lectured the sutras for 50 years.
