About the Author:

Marilyn Mets has been working in Toronto as an illustrator, art director and graphic designer for over 25 years. She has illustrated and collaborated on numerous children's books, winning many awards and nominations including being nominated for the Amelia Frances Gibbons Award for Illustration in 1998 for Cameron and Me.

Peter Ledwon has worked as a commercial photographer, illustrator, graphic designer, and art director for the past 15 years. He gained formal training in photography at Ryerson University. In addition, he holds science degrees in physiology and biochemistry from U.B.C. Peter also writes for both magazines and newsletters targeted at the adult market.

From School Library Journal:

Kindergarten-Grade 2-Mollie is eagerly awaiting the birth of her new sibling. When she snuggles against her mom in the morning, she feels it move. Later, she walks around the farm to catch tadpoles, pick tomato worms, and listen to the chickens cackle, expecting that all these things will please the baby. In the wee hours of the morning, when her brother finally arrives, Mollie thinks he looks ugly and realizes he won't appreciate the tadpoles or the tomato worms. Then her father puts the newborn in her arms and he wakes up to look at her. "Now he wasn't ugly, not at all." Realistic illustrations, rendered in computer-enhanced color photographs, allow readers to feel as though they are part of Mollie's story. This is a warm, engaging tale of anticipation, hope, disappointment, and hope again from the perspective of an older sister, contributing pleasantly to "new sibling" literature.
