Sudo received his B.S. degree in electronic engineering from the University of Kanazawa, and was awarded a Ph.D. from the University of Tokyo for his VAD work. He has filed more than 350 patents and has been granted more than 100 patents including U.S. patents. He is a member of the Institute of Electronics, Information, and Communication Engineers of Japan. In 1996 he was appointed executive manager in the research planning department of NTT Opto-Electronics Laboratories.
