A down-to-earth autobiography reveals the domestic side, the on-the-road side, the kids' side, and a wife's perspective of what it is like when family life revolves around the game of baseball

As Mike Hargrove went from Texas high school ball through the minor leagues to 11 big league years with the Texas Rangers, Cleveland Indians, and two other teams, then back to the minors as coach and manager, wife Sharon went along. Helped by Texas A&M University English professor Costa, she gives a close view of the life of a baseball family, replete with all its trials and triumphs. In their 18 years together the Hargroves and their four children survived trades, road trip separations, and frequent moves. The Hargroves' life story somewhat echoes Sally and Tommy John's The Sally and Tommy John Story: Our Life in Baseball ( LJ 6/1/83), but this is a worthy purchase on its own for adult and YA collections.
